Tokyo Nights: Episode Three is now available and without all the drama the last episode endured.
This week I’ve started my last semester of university studies. It’s only one paper – Creative Writing – but it looks to be very full on with the weekly course load on top of the assignments. I’ve had to decide on what piece of writing to focus on for the two major assignments, thankfully there are no genre restrictions as some writing papers have and I’ve decide to use to work on my next major novel – Rom-suspense set in Okinawa – or at least parts of it.
This weeks snippet comes from Episode Three and involves the still unnamed –unrevealed- Police Commissioner of the Tokyo Prefecture.
The ashtray on his desk overflowed with nervously smoked cigarettes. He’d gone through most of the pack as he waited in the dimly lit office for a call he wished he could ignore. A bottle of whiskey sat within arm’s reach, looking emptier than it had been two hours ago, and when the phone rang, it sloshed out of the glass he held in his rush to answer the phone. This conversation wasn’t going to go well, not with the raiding of Asano’s warehouse resulting in the arrest of twenty of his men and the murder of another from Ebisu – Yohei Asano, Goushi Asano’s nephew-in-law.
He grabbed the bottle and poured more into his glass, shaking hands saw the amber liquid dribble over his desk. “Hello.”
Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).
