Rainbow Snippets–Dangerous Life

This weeks snippet comes from Dangerous Life, the conclusion to The Yakuza and the English Teacher series, just released.

This weeks is a little longer than six sentences but it loses its impact if I made it shorter.

He watched Jamie kneel on the tatami mats and pour sake into the men’s cups and his heart broke. Trust, shattered. This should have been a sight that filled Gou with pride and yet he couldn’t muster a single flicker of desire at the sight of Jamie moving with well-practiced movements between the tables. Not a single urge to run his hands across the man’s body as his gaze drifted across him without the heat Jamie in a suit would usually elicit. No need to adjust himself, his pants not growing tight. Guilt hung heavy in Jamie’s eyes as their gazes met and killed any desire he’d had for this man.

He should not be here.

Jamie should be at home.

He’d broken his promise.

Gou wasn’t disappointed. He was devastated.

Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).
